Infiltrating a top-secret Vesper stronghold with only one weapon and leaving alive. Big whoop, I could do this in my sleep. Literally. What were all those years of training for anyway?
I was currently sitting outside the gates of a large bread factory in a UPS truck. All I had to do was drive inside, get out, enter the factory, destroy their Command Center, and figure out what to do next. The package I’d be delivering was sitting on the seat next to me. Inside was a bomb capable of blowing at least half the factory into a raging ball of fire.
Suddenly, an alarm I’d set earlier went off, my lunch was over. Time to move. The truck’s engine came to life with a roar as I pulled onto the road. Several yards ahead was the main entrance.
“Hello,” I said to the man at the kiosk. I noticed he was holding a gun.
I handed them over and he started verifying them.
Hurry up, I thought.
Five minutes later he handed them back. “You’re free to go.” he said, smiling. I smiled back as the truck roared away. Hopefully I’d have something to smile about when I left this place.
Up ahead of me was a delivery center where other trucks were unloading. I headed in the opposite direction. Logic told me that the Vespers would want to keep visitors as far away from the entrance to their underground fortress as possible.
Yes. Confirmation in the form of a fleet of bright red trucks appeared in front of me. The name “Valentino’s Electronics” was painted on them, with the V standing out from all the other letters. What would a bakery need with electronics?
When I was close enough, I turned around and backed up to one of the loading bays. They wouldn’t even know what was coming.
I got out and went up to the driver’s side of the truck next to me where the driver was sitting, playing games on a Smartphone. “Hey buddy!” I yelled through his window.
“What?” he asked, looking at me like I was crazy.
“You forgot your date! With my fist.” My fist plunged through the glass, a special UPS glove protecting it. A second later the man was out cold on the floor of his truck. I unlocked the door, threw it open, and pulled the man out. Now I had to change.
