I heard it I heard it I declare.
I heard the thunder,
I looked at all of us,
in our quarreling, we stood asunder,
as the thunder and storm came for us from a place of yonder.
"Dear lads! My fellowmen! Heed my words," I begged, "this one time, please! For in this time of
unease let us put our differences aside, let us stand together, let us put away our hunger for
violence, and drive away this storm and thunder before it drags us six feet under!"
I thought,
that my words had brought,
some sense to our lot.
But alas the truth this was not.
And see I grew distraught as my fellowmen turned on each other and fought.
While searching for solutions to this storm they had no resolutions as they held the same dark
illusions of grandeur.
"Men alas heed my words!" I spoke.
"My kind and good-willed men, think not of yourselves think instead of the innocent, the young
folk, there is not much time! For the storm will be here at the clocks next stroke! Let us not quell
but instead let us stoke the opinions and ideas of others. Do not let your pride be your yoke."
I stopped talking then,
thinking that at last,
my words had fallen on their minds and held fast,
but I was wrong,
they quarreled once more,
my words were now a distant past,
their pride was vast.
The storm is here now,
I hope these words are not my last.
