"-And then you could knock them both out and drag them onto the ship. You'd be back by supper!" Quinn finishes with a flourish. "Why don't I just knock them out first? Theoretically, they'd be the first people to come after me. Especially if I were escaping," I continued the conversation. She shrugged. "Well, that's the layout. Obviously you'd have to improvise some. Oooh! Maybe you could take the Bounty-Hunter-Trooper with you! She seems to know a lot of info on the Empire," Quinn said matter-of-factly. I opened my mouth to respond when my door opened and in stormed -very dramatically, if I do say so myself, but he was always the drama queen- Vader. "What, come to see li'l ol' me again? Did you get bored that quickly?" I teased innocently. I hear him growl of all things before he lifts his hand and I'm pinned to the wall. "Someone question your ability to scare prisoners? Is that what's going on?" I mocked. "A friend of yours spoke to Padmé Amidala. Tell me how." He appears to be threatening me, but there was no "or else" tagged along to the sentence. So I focused on a different part of his short monologue. "Padmé Amidala? Really? I have wanted to talk to her for such a long time! She was amazing!" I gush. "Let me try this again." He takes out his lightsabers and aims it near my throat. "Where is she?" Tough luck. "Well, I mean, sorry to have to break this to you, but Padmé Amidala has been dead for a solid twenty-something years. I know it's sad, but I really thought you knew," I replied, my face revealing nothing. "It is not wise to play games with me, Miss Hope-" Aw, such nice manners. "Really? Because I was having such fun." "-And if you tell me where your little friends are, I might just let you go." I went silent. He patiently waited for a response, nothing but the sounds of his labored breathing filling the air. "You know, Vader, one of the few things I know about you is that you don't lie. You might withhold information, it's true, but never once have I heard you lie. And if we're being honest, I really don't think you can. Convincingly, at least. Which is why I know very well that when you say might you mean you won't. Or, more acurately, you can't. And it doesn't matter whether or not I tell you anything, because if you let me go, it's just one more threat to your master's precious Empire, Anakin Skywalker," I stated. "That person does not exist anymore," he hisses as well as one can in that mask. I study him closely and then look at his lightsaber. "No," I muse, "Just hiding. There, but barely. But I'll find him." I nod, more to myself than to him. "I'll find him." He storms up to me and grabs me by my neck, lifting me up a foot in the air. I instinctively grab his hand, struggling to breath. "We will find her before you can find him," he growls before dropping me and turning around. I cough, an awful rasping sound, and gulp in great lungfuls of air. "The only person... you can lie to... is yourself..., Darth," I manage to cough out between gasps. The door slams shut behind him after I finish my sentence. I drag myself into the corner of my bed/slab/thing and draw my knees up, still breathing deeply, and despite all that's happened, I grin.
(was that good??)
