@Lucy congratulations! That's so exciting! I wish you well with your editing!
@Churos My book is a mix of fantasy and sci-fi.
Day 1 is over!
I decided I would just write the plot or the map of the story today. Unfortunately I've had a really bad case of writers block for who knows how long, so before throwing myself back into writing, I thought I'd start with that. I was really bad at planning this, so I just lost a day to mapping and discovering characters. I had kept my expectations pretty low for this first week, not to mention today, on account of the block, but it was surprisingly eventful! I found my protagonist a name, a back story, and hopefully a future. I like to keep my structures lose when it comes to world building, because they usually shape themselves when I begin writing.
I had one of those moments, where nothing was fitting and everything just sounded like a cheap knockoff of other books, and then-
It was there. Inspiration! Ideas!
I'm so ready to begin, so stoked to see where the story goes. It's been so long since I've been this excited about something. Agh, it feels good to be back on the writing horse! I don't know why, but writing is just so calming to me. It just brings me a sense of clarity, like if I'm struggling with my school, my friends, my self esteem, feeling hated- it just makes me feel like I can accomplish anything, that literally the sky's the limit, but I can push that limit as high as I want it to be.
In the back of my mind, I'm nervous of about the first chapter, the first sentence, but I really just need to focus and not try to edit anything. That's always one of the hardest things for me. I just need to let it be.
But! I'll worry about that tomorrow.
Best wishes for your books, guys! If you are writing a book, or are planning to, I'd love to hear how you are progressing! I find it immensely interesting and will eat up any advice or chat about this sort of thing.
