So, I was looking through some old stuff and I stumbled across a super cring-worthy story that I wrote when I was ten...
*SOME THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE READING THE STORY*
1) Again, I was only ten
2) My teacher said that we were not allowed to have more than three characters (I fudged a little and put a fourth background character)
3) My teacher also said that we couldn't have it be longer than two pages
Alright, now let's get into it:
THE PORTAL TO CANDYLAND
Once there were two children named Lindsey and Nick. Lindsey is fourteen and Nick is eleven. Their parents died in a fire seven years ago. They were able escape alive but their parents didn’t make it. They live in a very big house (with their crabby aunt) with; three stories, ten bedrooms, five bathrooms, a bowling alley, an arcade, a toy closet that looked more a toy store, and an indoor pool. They moved into the house when Lindsey was eleven and Nick was eight (so three years ago). But they never noticed the mysteries in this house until now.
“I’m bored!” Shouted Nick with boredom as him and Lindsey sat down at the table to eat lunch.
“Why don’t you go watch Sesame Street?” Said Lindsey.
“I don’t watch Sesame Street, and besides it’s not on until 4:30”
“Well, as soon as we finish lunch maybe we go into the attic and look for a game to play.” Said Lindsey.
“Fine!” said Nick.
As they were eating lunch little food particles kept falling out of Nick’s mouth.
“Hey! Try chewing not spewing!” exclaimed Lindsey in disgust.
“Can you just please stop spitting out little food particles? It’s disgusting!”
“Yeah, yeah, yeah”
“Real yeah, yeah, yeah? Or I-don’t-care-what-your-saying-I’m-just-gonna-do-whatever-I-want yeah, yeah, yeah?”
“Yeah, yeah, yeah.”
When they finished lunch they went up into the attic to look for a game just like Lindsey had said.
“Hey Lindsey! Look! Candy Land!” Exclaimed Nick as he found the game.
“I haven’t played that since I was three,” said Lindsey in shock. “In fact I’m pretty sure it burned down in the fire.”
“C’mon! Please! This one’s different!” Pleaded Nick.
“Fine! But only so you’ll stop begging.”
Lindsey started playing then Nick. On Nicks turn something mysterious/strange happened. They got sucked in to the game!
“What did you do?!” Lindsey thought she was going to explode.
“Well, I rolled the dice and then I moved my piece and then…” said Nick in confusion
“I KNOW WHAT YOU DID!!!”Lindsey (almost) exploded. “Well we’re just gonna have to think of a way to get out. Wait… Nick where are you!” Lindsey looks over at Nick, “What are you doing?”
“I’m licking the cotton candy/chocolate tree.” said Nick
“You can basically eat everything, let’s see, grass is made out frosting, the houses are made out of cake and ginger bread, the clouds are made out of cotton candy, and the flowers are made out of buttercups.”
“You can even eat the worms!” exclaimed Nick in awe when he saw the gummy worms crawling around in the grass.
“Okay, ew.” said Lindsey in disgust when she saw Nick stuffing the worms in his mouth.
“What?” said Nick as he was stuffing the worms in his pocket.
“Okay, seriously you will never have a girlfriend!”
“Like I’d want one!”
“Anyway we need to get thinking on where we’re gonna stay tonight.”
“How about that huge cake castle?” said Nick pointing at the castle.
It was a huge castle made out of cake. It had seven stories and each story had a different color layer of frosting with a tuft of whip-cream at the very top.
“No! That’s where the king lives.” explained Lindsey
“Wait, if you haven’t played that since you were three how do you know so much about it?”
“Don’t you remember? I have a photographic memory.”
“How about that gingerbread cottage over there?” asked Lindsey.
“Okay, that looks good.”
Then, they went to the cottage.
“So what’s for dinner?” asked Nick.
“Popcorn and candy.” Said Lindsey confused at the dinner choices.
“And for dessert?”
“Candy and popcorn.”
Sweet! I love this place!”
Lindsey rolled her eyes at him
When they finished dinner they went to sleep. Lindsey had already called the biggest room so Nick had to sleep in the smallest one. The next morning someone knocked on their door.
Nick went to go answer it, “What is it?” Nick asked half asleep.
“How can you be sleeping at this time!?” a strange villager asked.
“What do you mean?” Nick asked
“The evil enchantress, is brainwashing everyone into doing her evil bidding!”
Just then the strange man left and Nick closed the door. Then he woke up Lindsey, they got dressed, and ran outside to destroy the evil enchantress.
“I think I have something that could help.” said Lindsey to Nick.
“What is it?”
“It’s the necklace mom gave me a few years ago before she died. She said if I was ever in doubt I could always use this necklace to help us.”
“Well you should probably use now because the city is getting destroyed and everyone is acting like a bunch of wackos!”
“Okay, here it goes.”
“Do you really think you can destroy me!” asked the evil enchantress and then started laughing manically.
Lindsey tried it and it worked! First she closed her eyes and concentrated. Then she started lifting up in the air! Finally, the necklace started shooting rainbows and lasers and stuff.
“NOOOOOOOOOOO! I’m being destroyed!” said the evil enchantress
And she destroyed the evil enchantress. Lindsey was a hero! Everyone congratulated her. Then all of a sudden her Nick started getting sucked back into their world.
Once again they were back in the attic with game in front of them.
“Home! Sweet, sweet home!” said Nick with delight as he started rolling around on the floor.
“That was… weird.” said Lindsey in wonder. “And get up from the floor!”
And so that’s how it all began, who knows maybe Lindsey and Nick will travel somewhere else.
How did I get an A on that? I've gotten so much better since then...
