"Are you sure this will work?" I asked doubtfully at IIIyana Rasputina Aka Magik.
"Yes Logan, I'm sure" she answered.
"I think," she said quickly.
The Professor, Magik and I were on the east side of the X-mansion grounds. Most of the students and X-Men had come to see me go. Xavier wanted me to travel to the future to see if humans were friends with us mutants. Magik was going to create a portal with her Soulsword and I'd be whisked away.
"Are you ready Logan?" she asked as her eyes were glowing fiery orange.
I looked over at the Professor and he gave a slight nod.
"Ready as I'll ever be," I answered and she swung her sword around her head.
I waved at the crowd of students and X-Men and
Magik heaved the weapon one last time and it struck the earth. I was lifted off my feet and into the glowing portal.
Light and dark ripped as I soared through.
"How's it going?!" I yelled into my earpiece.
Suddenly there was a jolting feeling and I swerved to the right.
"Was that supposed to happen?!" I yelled.
"No you were only supposed to go forward. There's something wrong with this dimension portal!"
"No kidd-," I wasn't able to finish because the portal opened up and a blinding light engulfed me.
I woke up screaming and when I couldn't see my hand in front of me. I knew there was a problem.
Wha happened? I can't remember...
I sniffed. The scent smelled familiar.
Dirt? No a playground? No it's kids?
After another minute or so I could see a little. Wanting to conserve my eyesight I staggered to what seemed like a door.
I slammed into it.
"What on Earth?!" a woman's voice exclaimed
So I made it. That's a relief.
"Are you another one of the superhero kids that your parent just dropped off without coming in here?"
she asked sounding clearly annoyed.
"They can at least sign your application again."
I scraped off all the glass on me and felt around for the reception desk.
"Is this a school?" I asked.
"Yeah where have you been?" she asked and jammed a pen into my right hand.
"Space and the apocalypse, I answered bluntly. "Now can I have a place to rest for a bit?"
"Yeah yeah sure I'll take you to the nurses office," she answered and grabbed my shoulders.
I scribbled down what I could and allowed her to guide me.
Once I get my eyesight back I'll find what's goin' on.
