Background: He is an orphan. He became leader of teh rebellion because he had a strange idea his parents became a zombie, even tho they didn't. So, he keeps on searching for them, trying to escape, but he may just give in if the zombie tells him there his parents.

Other: Sam often takes long walks around the city, trying to find his parents but staying in the shadows

Name: Joshua "Soldier Boy" "Soldier" "Soldie'(pronounced like: SOUL-ja)" "Army Boy" "Army" Jefferson

Age: 22 and a half

Looks: He has dark, haunting eyes that were originally a bright blue but have faded and darkened overtime, and bleach blond hair. It's military-short and his skin is very tan from being outside. He's extremely muscular and tall, around 6'7 or 6'8. He seems like a giant. He has scars everywhere(a huge one across his face the goes from above his left eye to over the bridge of his nose and stops at his jawline on the right side of his face) and has seen many battles. He looks a lot older than he is. 

Personality: He is silent most of the time. He doesn't talk, but he's sweet and gentle to the kids. He's comforting sometimes, despite not speaking, but he can be VERY intimidating when needed/he wants to be(which is practically all the time now). He acts a lot older than he is. He seems to be very mean and after being around him for a few days you seem to be able to get what he's trying to say, even when he doesn't say a word. He has nightmares at night and no one knows this. He doesn't mention it with anyone. He enjoys listening to Sabaton and usually keeps to himself. (More in POVs)

Background: Josh's mother was in the airforce for four years until she had Josh. Joshua had regular childhood until his eighth birthday when his dad died in the army. His mother later contracted cancer and died a few months later. He was moved from foster home to foster home. Then he ran away from a foster home and joined the army on his 16th birthday(he looked a lot older and no one knew he was actually 16). He stayed in the army until his term(is that what it's called?) ended 6 years later. A week or so later the zombie apocalypse started and he joined the Resistance. However, he never told them his name and they only assume he was from the Army, since he was wearing the uniform when he joined(has been wearing it since), and they never pushed him but they don't fully trust him.

Other: He is the weapons expert. He prefers to use a hammer or mace and a knife. Equal fighter and at stealth and strategy. He has an MP3 player and earbuds that his mom gave him with tons of Sabaton songs on it. He also carries a picture of him when he was 6 years old with his mom and dad when his dad got home from a deployment.

Name: Grace "Gracie" 

Age:14(equal youngest)

Looks: Short, thick, soft vanilla blond hair(just past her shoulders. Usually in double braids. Has long blunt bangs.) She has sort of harsh ice-blue eyes. She's very skinny, with an athletic/lithe build(strong despite not being obviously muscular.) She has smooth light skin(other then the scars that come with trying to survive the apocalypse), freckles, and is quite beautiful(though who has time for looking pretty when you're fighting zombies.)

Personality: Before her sister was killed she was kind, gentle, fun, and one of the sweetest/brightest people you could ever know, but how can a twin be happy when they thunk their twin is gone forever? Super sarcastic, jaded, sort of cynical, can seem rather dark sometimes. A loner, she's quiet(barely speaks even when absolutely nessicary), and avoids people. Doesn't let anyone close to her because she feels like everyone she loves or gets close to ends up dead. She's extremely intelligent, creative, resourceful, and thinks strategically. Tends to go with her gut most of the time, an insomniac(she doesn't sleep, like, ever.) Doesn't really eat or pay attention to her needs(there's a small part of her that really hopes she'll die and go be with her sister and parents.) Can still be very gentle and kind, but she's nowhere near as bright or happy. Pretty much what you would expect of a fourteen year old girl who's twin is dead and is trying to survive the zombie apocalypse. More in POV's. 

Crush: Grim, but doesn't really want to get into any relationships that much after her first one. 

Background: Same as her sister, only after Maya "disappeared" and Grace found out she hunted down the man who killed her and killed him(she was thirteen at the time.) She had a boyfriend who she didn't think was that bad(but he was really quite abusive) but he was killed in a car accident a few months before Zombies started happening. She met Grim and he took her to join the resistance. Has been with them since then.  

Other: Equal artist/fighter/stealth. Best gymnast,music/singing(though she doesn't do either anymore), deductions. Her weapons of choice are a hatchet and a crossbow she found.

I watched from my window as I ate some dead person's brain.Watching as the others attacked living humans. Zombies practically ruled the world now.Killing every living person and turning them into zombies.I was already dead before this happened.I thought many times to find my sister but at what cost?For her to kill me?I'm not even sure where to look.I may be a zombie yet somehow I was able to talk like a human.I've seen memories even though they weren't mine.Zombies don't have that ability yet I do.I climbed down the fire escape and headed into my alley.I picked up a can of spray paint and started painting on the wall.I stopped about twenty minutes in when I heard voices.The Resistance was on the move.

Grim

The team had gathered weapons and ammo.We split up into groups and went out to look for survivors."Spot anyone"the radio went off."Negative but keep looking"I said" We can't  risk missing anyone."Iheard a strange sound like someone was spray painting but then it stopped.I followed it.I stopped to see a girl in the alley.She looked at me and I realized she was one of them.Blond hair and blue eyes but her skin was a pale blue icy color.I raised my weapon in caution."No"one of my members called out.The zombie looked as if she re ignited the voice.Gracie stepped forward."Soldier"I said."It's fine"she said.The can dropped from the zombie's hand."Do you know her soldier"I asked.U was also studying the zombie.How was it that she....it had any feelings or emotion?

Grace's POV: 

I look around the deserted town. Broken windows, smashed in doors, dead bodies. It looks like we're living during the apocalypse. Which we are.

Wait.

Over near Grim.

It can't be.... can it?

Is it....?

He raised his weapon.

"No...." my voice comes out rough after weeks of disuse.

"No!"

Grim looks over and I take a step forwards.

"Solider."

"It's fine."

The can falls from her hand as our eyes meet and I feel mine start to fill with tears.

"Solider?"

"Hm...?"

Did he ask a question?

"Do you know-"

Yes. Yes I do.

I run towards her and pull my twin sister into a hug and we both start sobbing. I had thought all my tears were used up.

"What the heck do you think-"

"Maya.... I missed you.... so much....."

"You too Gracie..."

I had hoped I wouldn't see her like this, prayed she wasn't a mindless Zombie, and that if I met her I wouldn't have to kill her. I don't think I could have......

No. I know I couldn't.

And if anyone tries to hurt her or separate us I'm going to kill them.

"What is going one"I asked slowly lowering my weapon."She's my twin sister"Gracie said."She's one of them"I said.I looked at the zombie."How is it you aren't mindless like the rest of them"I asked "Feelings, emotions,speech?""I've been eating the dead people's brains.You see their memories and stories.Eventually you realize that you have your own story"she said"Well mine just came back.""Somehow I didn't believe or trust her."If your wondering about me getting bit then you're went"she said"I was dead long before this happened.Murdered."

"Why didn't you come find me"Grace asked."I wanted to but I didn't know what would have happened"I said"I didn't want to get shot at.Plus I didn't know where to look."The air then changed.Zombies were coming."Give me a knife"I said.Someone tossed it to me."Trust me."I said looking at my sister."Always"she replied.I took her hand and cut it.I then wiped the blood on everyone's face along with the blood of the decaying bodies.It masked the living smell better that way."We need to move.They're coming"I said.

Sam:

I sat in my office, which seemed like a prison now. I thought of my parents, they were gone. And what did they left me? This whole Resistance thing, when I'm 15. Everyone's older than me! Suddenly, my phone beeped. I tap my bluetooth and allow the call. "What is it?" I ask. I hear the shaky voice of a soldier. "It's one of them! Here!" I yawn. You GOT to be kidding me. "Well? Kill it then!" The soldier paused at this. "It's apparently Grace's sister." I sat up, intruiged. Grace found her sister? Then maybe I could find my parents...I gotta get down there and ask her! I end the call, hearing the protests of the soldier. Then I grab my jacket and slip my phone inside, slipping out of my office cell.

Maya

"We should be killing her"one soldier yelled"We need to think of the others.""This is my sister we are talking about"Grace yelled."I lost her once by someone killing her and it will not happen again.This isn't a discussion.""It needs to die" a second soldier chimed in."SHE does not"Grace argued.Just then another boy entered the room and stared at me.The room was silent."So you're one of that"he asked."Yes and not"I replied causing some confusion."How is it you speak"he asked."Dead people's brains"I said."Its as if they are making her human again"Grim said."Are my parents out there"he asked."If they are they might be zombies and if they are zombies then they will most likely kill you"I replied."lm the only zombie like this.""Unless we get them to eat brains too"Grim said."The zombie lives and tomorrow we discuss this further"the boy said.I went with Grace to her room and laid on the floor and eventually fell asleep.The weird thing was that I was dreaming.The time I was alive and so was mom and dad.Zombies couldn't dream.Grim was right.I was somehow becoming more human.Could this possibly be a second  chance to live?I eventually just woke up and laid there staring at the ceiling.

Sam:

After I talked and gave orders about the zombie, which I think is Mia? Marissa? Oh yeah, Maya. I wonder about what she said. My parents would kill me? I don't want to be on the enemies side! I want to be with my parents. I sigh. Hopefully what Maya said was wrong. I really just want to see my parents. After all, I was the one who took over their rebellion. I need some answers. I grab my phone and stare at the pictures of them. Us. As a family. I really hope that Maya girl...zombie is wrong. Well, I'm not even gonna try to sleep. I grab my backpack, packed my silver dagger, my phone, and some food and walked out my office, and out the door, into the quiet streets. I sigh and continue down the street.

Joshua's POV:

I wake up in a cold sweat. Daylight, or what passes for it, streams in through the broken windows near the ceiling. Everyone's moving. "Come on, Army, get movin', no time to waist," Grim says, not even bothering to look at me. I quietly take a shaky breath. Ever since I got out of the Army, nightmares about my service have been plaguing me whenever I close my eyes. But no one trusts me anyway and I've learned not to get attached. "Who's that?" the zombie asked her sister, Gracie. "That's... I don't know. He's never told us his name. Doesn't say anything, actually. Not quite sure if he's mute or what. But we assume he was in the Army. Most of us just call him Army Boy, or Army for short," she whispers back. I shooting them a patronizing glance and stuff my backpack. My hand goes up to the dog tags around my neck. Three of 'em. One pair for me, one for my mom, and a third for my dad. I rubbed my thumb over the numbers then let them rest against my chest as Grim started leading everyone out. I put in an earbud and put the other broken one inside my shirt, pressing play on the MP3 player, which quietly started playing Sabaton. I padded my boots for the knife, hefted the backpack over my shoulder, grabbed my hammer, and started after him. Gracie and her zombie of a sister trailed behind me.

Grace's POV:

I didn't sleep. I'm actually scared of something again. Actually worried. I don't want anyone to try and kill her if I'm not around....

"Who's that?" I look over at the boy with the dog tags.

"That's... I don't know. He's never told us his name. Doesn't say anything, actually." Something we had in common until yesterday. "Not quite sure if he's mute or.... what." Like I was. "We assume he was with the Army. He's mostly just called Army boy, or Army for short." He glares over at us a I look away.

"Do you really know a lot of people here?" I shake my head and we start following Grim and the boy with the dog tags out. 

"Up until I realized... I spoke almost as little as him."

"Did you run into anyone else?"

"From before?"

"Yes. Mom, dad, um... Jacob?"

I feel a shiver run down my back at his name. She didn't know, did she?

"No." Gladly.

We walk in silence for a while, I think mostly just enjoying the fact that we're two again, instead of just Maya or just Grace.

"So what happened after...." 

I look down at the ground , narrowing my eyes.

"You don't have to say if you don't want to. I just remember dying, then waking up again."

I take a shaky breath and look away. "I killed him."

"Thanks."

"No problem."

She smirks and I let a small smile form on my lips.

"I missed you."

"You too sis."

I was extremely happy I had my sister back but one thing weighed on me.Everyone who was dead is now a zombie.He was somewhere out there killing people.What if he was like me?I know I'm the only zombie like this but what if I'm actually not.The thought weighed on me all night.I got up and looked out the window to the lower floor where people were cleaning their weapons and talking.I noticed Grim wasn't there but then he walked in carrying a bag with brains in it.He went to harvest me some food?He doesn't even know me that well. I silently slipped out of the room and went to talk with him."You got those for me"I asked."I figured if they help then why not"he replied."Thanks"I replied."You need rest"he said."I've been dead.I think I've had enough rest"I replied.He then left me with the bag of brains and walked of to discuss things with his team.I went to go back to the room when one of the other members pushed me against a wall with a dagger at my throat."Try anything and I will kill you"he threatened."I just want to be with my sister again"I said."You're still one of them"he said defensively"And will always be one of them.""Back off"Grace said forcing him to the ground"I get a second chance to have my sister and you will not take that from me."

Joshua's POV:

Noticing the skirmish between one of the new guys and the zombie and her twin, I walked over there with my mace. I got in between the two sides and glowered down at the guy, arms crossed but mace at the ready. I nod my head to the door. He gets my meaning: Scram, or else. Gulping, the boy got up and ran over to the rest. I sighed and uncrossed my arms, shaking my head. Oh, yes, of course now was the BEST time to get into fights with other people! "Thanks, Army, but I had 'im," Gracie said. I turned around and raised an eyebrow. I pointed at the both of them and then pointed to the group. I pointed to myself and then shook my head. "Of course you're part of the group," she said, though some uncertainty colored her voice. I snorted. "Better to fight the untrusted than to fight the team and family is the most important thing we have in this world," I rumbled quietly. Gracie looked very surprised. It was the second sentence I had ever uttered since they found me. Most thought I was either mute or too stupid to talk. I coughed, I hadn't used my voice in a long time. "Words of wisdom," the zombie murmured. I smirked and, unconsciously grabbing the dogtags around my neck and running a thumb along the numbers, walked back to the group. 

Sam:

I peer down an alley looking for zombies. The moon is just peeking over the horizon, so I'll probably find some soon. They would smell me anyway. I sigh and run my hand through my hair. I knew Maya had told me they wouldn't know me, but she somehow knew Gracie, why couldn't my parents? I need to find them! I grit my teeth and tighten my grip on my dagger. Something told me this night was gonna be long.
