After leaving Moraband, we headed for Tatooine . Once we landed, Max, the guy who gaves us a ride, headed off to do whatever business he had to do. Meanwhile, Neem and I remained on the ship. And I eventually found out why they wanted this artifact-thing.
I stared at him, incredulously. "So that's it?! You just want to get this thing so you can sell it to the highest bidder?! Is this some kind of sick joke?!" "Nope," Neem replied, leaning back and closing his eyes. "What is wrong with you people?"
Neem quickly sat up and gave me a look of 'Did you really just ask me that? Really?'. I returned the look. "Well, what do you expect me to ask?" The look turned into a frown. Obviously this wasn't something he liked to talk about. "I'm waiting." ".... It's not like you would understand." "Try me."
There was silence. Then he sighed. "Look, when you live down there, you do what you have to do to survive. Sellin' this artifact is going to make sure
a lot of people, including myself, wont have to worry about anything ever again."
"...... And you don't care who get's it?" "Nope. As long as we get paid." I frowned. "So you don't care if whoever get's it, can harm people with it?" "Nope." "So you stand for nothing, basically." He frowned. "Take that back." Ooh, a challenge. "Oh, no. I forgot. You simply stand for profit." "That isn't true." "And nothing else. Not the universe. Not the lives of innocents. Absolutely NOTHING. It's pitiful, really. Or perhaps it's the way of cowards."
That seemed to do it. Neem stood, angrily. And I stood as well, hand over my daggers, silently challenging him.
Right then, a door opened and someone ran in. "Hey, guys! You wont believe what I -I - uh....." Neem turned to look at him angrily. "Maxwell, get ready to head back to Coruscant. Now." Max, now paled and slightly terrified, nodded and hurried off.
