I've been meaning to post this for a very long time. However, time keeps getting away from me, and term papers and conferences come up, and it becomes impossible. But when I woke up this morning and realized that today is indeed Abraham Lincoln's birthday, I took it as a sign to commit to honesty. So here we go.
Hi. For those of you who don't know me, I am one of the MBers back from like 2012. I guess you've been calling it the Silver Age or something. It's been years since I've been on this website. And oh yeah, my name is Chase.
Well actually, it isn't.
I've gone by Chase on the MB ever since my first day. I chose it because the word chase is defined as to pursue, to run after. It summed up how I felt about the MB-- it was a place to pursue, to run after, because it was, and hopefully still is, a warm, accepting community where we could discuss our ideas, hopes, and dreams, without a fear of being laughed at.
I posted on here back when I wanted to be an author. Man, it was my dream. This community seemed like the best one to share my ideas with. I created RP after RP, story after story. My favorite one is called The Golden Age. Unfortunately, it was never finished.
I left the MB officially sometime in 2014. I had just started high school and needed to focus on my schoolwork. My academic and social life became a vacuum, and before long it stopped occurring me to log in and post on the MB. I stopped checking it and all of a sudden, it's been three years.
Even though many of you don't know me, and it's entirely within the realm of reason that no one will read this, I want to say thank you.
In the times when I wasn't confident, in the times when I wasn't happy, this place provided me with a safehaven. I felt so at home here, you have no idea. I became the person I am today, as of February 12, 2017, because of the MB.
I have never met any of you in real life and probably never will. I would truly like nothing more than to get to know you. But to those who remember me, to those who can vaguely recall the name Chase, and even to those that never did, thank you.
Thank you for being there. Thank you for listening. Thank you for everything.
I'm 17 years old and looking at colleges. To a lot of you, I probably seem ancient. Heck, even to me I feel old. But I was once in the same place as any of you. My sincerest desire for all of you is that you will get out of this what I did. That you will find a family among absolute strangers. That you will become confident and happy because of the other kids that you met through a computer screen.
So keep going. Write those RPs. Tell those stories. Read those paragraphs.
Don't give up on this place.
It was a wild ride, MB. I owe you the world.
With all my gratitude,
Please tell us why you'd like to report this post
I may be a

But I’ll always be the one behind your back.
