Max didn't respond. So I waited for a moment and then asked, "Max, did you....Did you have a family before all of this?"
It took a moment but he replied, "I don't know."
"You don't know? What do you mean 'you don't know?"
"I mean that - "
Before he finished his sentence, though, Max suddenly slammed on the brakes. He sat there for a few seconds before turning back to the direction the others were and speeding off. I grasped the steering wheel, somewhat shocked.
"Max! What on earth-"
"Look in the mirror."
I looked up into the rear-view mirror. And I frowned. There was another bot. But at the speed Max was going, it was hard to tell who they were or what they were doing.
"Do you know them?" I asked, slowly letting go of the wheel.
"No," he replied.
"Then why did you do.....that?"
"I don't know. Something feels off."
